What do you do currently?
I’m retired now.

When did you start to play chess?
Probably close to 5 decades

How did you get to know about the chess game?
From family and schoolmates.

Where did you get chess training?
Mostly from internet.

Did you take any chess coaching?
Never did.

Why do you continue to play chess?
It is because it stimulates the mind, and it’s a beautiful game.

Is chess is more of a passion or has it become a winning symbol to you?
It has become a passion, and the winning still comes along.

Before the Internet, while you were building up your chess skills, did you play in other states in Malaysia?
No, because the internet was already there when I was actively playing.

When you attended tournaments in other states, did you enjoy the travels?
Definitely.

How many tournaments have you took part in?
Too many to remember.

What was your biggest win so far?
Finishing 2nd in the Penang City Bayview Team League Championship with an unknown team. Another memorable win was Champion Penang Mensa Chess tournament. Recent one was winning the fifth place in the Wah Seong international chess team tournament.

Did you go for International tournaments as well?
Yes.

What have you gained from the chess game?
I think it keeps the mind active and healthy, besides being a favourite pastime.

Other than helping you to analyze things better, can I say that chess also helped you to be more courageous?
To a certain extent. Also helps in other areas too.

What have you gained from joining chess tournaments?
Besides some prize monies, making friends and meeting people, etc.
